How It All Started
A solution born from real student struggles
In 2022, three university students in Lusaka faced a common problem: receiving money from family across borders was expensive, slow, and complicated. Traditional banks charged up to 5% in fees, transfers took days, and many students didn't even have bank accounts.
We realized that students needed something different - a solution built specifically for their unique needs. No monthly fees (because every dollar counts), instant transfers (because waiting for money is stressful), and zero data charges (because data is expensive).
That's when KashiPay was born. Built on Stellar blockchain for instant, low-cost transfers, and accessible via USSD for students without smartphones or data. Today, we serve over 50,000 students across 14 SADC countries, processing millions in transfers every month.
But we're just getting started. Our dream is to ensure no student in Africa is excluded from the digital economy due to lack of access to financial services.
